The Hula Grill Kaanapali is one of our favorite restaurants both for great food and Hawaiian atmosphere. The restaurant sits right on the boardwalk and is just feet from the beach. The open air seating is small comfortable with a nice covered patio in case one of those soothing afternoon Maui showers decide to show up.
Every table in the dining room has a great view and the Hula Grill is one of the best places in Maui for a sunset dinner.
We started our Valentine's day dinner with a nice bottle of Seghesio Zinfandel from Sonoma California. This is one of favorite wineries in the Napa/Sonoma area.
For our appetizer, we had the delicious lobster and scallop potstickers in a plum sauce. The Seghesio Zin went great with the plum sauce.
The Bok-Choy salad was tender and came with locally grown sweet tomatoes.
For the main entree, the macadamia nut crusted mahi-mahi with lump crab meat was tender and sweet. A definite highlight of the meal.
To end a great dinner, the famous Hula Pie, wow !
This is one of the best restaurants in Maui and reservations are highly recommended and sometimes required weeks in advance.
