I love my Maui Hawaii vacations because this island has the best balance in terms of beaches, accommodations, activities, beauty and variety. Plus it has the best sunsets in the world.
Maui has all of the amenities of a larger city but the charm of a small town. Maui is big enough to get away from it all yet small enough to see it all. From the dry side to the rain forest with thick foliage and plumeria flowers everywhere, Maui has something for everybody.
Snorkel with the turtles, ride alongside dozens of whales, climb 10,200 foot Haleakala crater and then glide back down to the northeastern shore and the rainforest of Hana where is rains over 360 inches per year.
Swim in tranquil west side ocean waters or take a quick trip over to the north side and surf some great waves. Catch that stunning sunset from the beach in Kaanapali or a sunrise from the top of a volcano. Paddle board in the calm waters of Kaanapali, Lahaina and Napili.
Maui prides itself on the year round perfect growing season that takes advantage of plentiful rain and rich volcanic soil.
The better restaurants incorporate locally grown produce and freshly caught seafood into some of the best dishes that you will find anywhere in the world.
The best Maui Hawaii vacations start by selecting the best home resort location. For the first time visitor, your best choice is selecting one of the beautiful resorts or hotels. For the returning visitor other options include either purchasing or renting one of the fabulous Maui timeshares.
Your choice of location is dependent on several factors such as what type of weather you like and what activities you will be doing. The best higher end resorts are found in Wailea, Kaanapali and Kapalua. If you like more of a local, less fancy place, then Kihei is the perfect small beach town.
Maui Hawaii has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. From calm and protected bays that are perfect for snorkeling to large waves and wind that draw world class surfers and kite surfers from around the world, Maui has it all.
I have assembled a collection of my favorites, with reviews and photos of each.
There are no bad times for a vacation in Maui Hawaii. Maui's prime season is
everyday. There is no off season. Daytime temperatures throughout the year range from the high 70s to high 80s all year long with lows in the high 60s and low 70s. The air temperature rarely gets into the 90s.
Visit our Maui weather page for current weather conditions, real time satellite loop, 7 day forecast plus monthly average air and ocean temperatures plus details on the weather by month.
Take a look at Maui live with one of several streaming Maui webcams. Most are live streaming, high quality video feeds and controllable.
This is the perfect tool to check out local weather and ocean conditions plus watch one of those famous Maui sunsets.
Maui is only about 48 miles long and 26 miles wide at
the largest point. This makes it relatively easy to move in and out of
micro-climates during your visit. Visit our page for information on the location of restaurants, beaches and resorts.
The main international airport is centrally located in Kahului. A
smaller airport, perfect for island hopping, is in Kapalua and just a
few minutes away from the resort towns of Napili and Kaanapali. If you
are traveling to or from another island and staying near Kapalua, this smaller, uncrowded airport is worth considering.
