About the El Silencio Lodge and Spa

The El Silencio Lodge and Spa is a sustainable eco-lodge luxury hotel located on 500 acres of private land in Bajos del Toro, Alajuela Costa Rica.  El Silencio is situated in a cloud forest of valleys and waterfalls on the slopes of the Poas volcano at an altitude of more that 3000 feet.

The weather is mild and air conditioning or heat is not needed.  While it can rain at any time during the year, the most rain occurs between May and December with September and October being the rainiest months.  Temperatures can be cool at night so pack a light jacket or sweater.

The rooms are tiered so that each has full views of the cloud forest, rivers and mountains.  Available room configurations are the Deluxe Suite, Honeymoon Suite, Two Bedroom Suite, Two Bedroom Villa, Two Bedroom Riverside Villa and Three Bedroom Villa.  Each room comes with pillow top comfortable matresses and a private heated outdoor Jacuzzi.

There are two on site restaurants and a bar that integrates locally grown produce from a 5000 square foot organic greenhouse that provides greens, herbs and spices.  In addition, El Silencio raises its own free range chickens, eggs and trout from an on site pond.

As far as activites, there are hiking trails to three waterfalls, one of which you can swim in, mountain bike trails, horseback riding, guided tours of their property and a zipline.

The Spa offers numerous types of massages, facials, body treatments along with yoga classes.

El Silencio Lodge and Spa is about a 2 hour drive from San Jose and a 4+ hour drive from Liberia.
